Lewis Pies is a well recognised name in their heartland of South and West Wales. They’ve been manufacturing and distributing pastry products to both Food Service and Retail sector for the past seventy four years. Now with the third generation of family involved in running the business and after having won a string of prestigious awards for their products, they thought it time to give greater consideration to the public face of their business through both their corporate identity and product branding. This is a fast moving sector of the Market and many of their competitors have made great strides in recent times. Supermarkets too have become ever more demanding with their requirements on product packaging.
The first, and in some respects most radical part of the solution proposed by ourselves involved a subtle change of name from Lewis’s to Lewis Pie and Pasty Co. The colour palette was retained, although modified slightly to reflect a more contemporary image. A great deal of consideration was then given to the crucial element of product packaging, the point at which the consumer comes in to contact with the brand in the most intimate way.
The reaction to the new Lewis brand has been exceptionally positive and has resulted in new listings with both Asda and Tesco, a key goal for the company and one it had been targeting for some time.
